Allyship & Action is a series borne out of Black pain. Its founders, Palette Group owners Nate Nichols and Steffi Behringer, had previously created the Freelancer CyberX platform to address the needs of the community when the pandemic first hit. This new event, however, needed to call in white leadership to show up for Black and other marginalized communities.
They brought me on as a founding partner to A&A, teaming with the founders on overall brand, content, and programming strategy. So far, we’ve had three fully-live events, including the flagship State of Equity Summit in late October. We’ve created panels of all-white leadership in tense moments for corporate America and turned them into exercises of vulnerability. We held space for all walks of life to feel empowered, and have kept brands and agencies
This is an ongoing labor of love, where I help oversee marketing and communications for its #AllyshipArmy, copy and content development and strategy for the event, and assisting on developing key partnerships and groundwork to build A&A into the hybrid event/staffing transparency platform the ad world didn’t know it needed.
